Telephone Lifestyle Coaching (TLC) Program

Note:

The Telephone Lifestyle Coaching (TLC) Program will not accept referrals after March 31st, 2023. Veterans enrolled in TLC will continue to receive telephone coaching care until September 27, 2023, at which time TLC services will end. We are working to provide a solution to restart TLC coaching and re-open referrals.

Updates will be promptly communicated as available. For weight management support, discuss available MOVE! Weight Management Program for Veterans (MOVE!) options with your VA healthcare team. Personalized Care, When and Where You Want It

Do you want to improve your health without driving to the VA?

TLC is a telephone-based coaching program where Veterans talk with a health coach about personal health and self-care behaviors. Veterans receive education and support for goal setting and action planning to improve their health and well-being.

Telephone Lifestyle Coaching provides telephone support when and where Veterans want it. Coaches support Veterans who choose to take charge of their health in any of these areas:

  • managing weight
  • being more active
  • managing stress
  • eating wisely
  • limiting alcohol

Calls can be scheduled any time throughout the day, from early morning to late evening and on weekends.

If this sounds like the right fit for you, ask your healthcare team for a referral to TLC today. You can do so in person, over the phone or through MyHealtheVet’s Secure Messaging.

After the consult is placed, be sure to answer the phone when your coach calls. Coaching is provided by VA-supported, community-based coaches. The caller ID will appear with the following number: 833-698-2852.

If you are interested in participating in TLC, email TelephoneLifestyleCoaching@va.gov for more information.
